Lekan currently serves as Secretary of the Board. Lekan grew up in the Jamestown community and has had the opportunity to work all around the city of Toronto in different capacities. As a graduate of the Bachelors of Social Work program at Ryerson University, Lekan’s work is grounded in an anti-oppression framework and is an ambassador for the practice. Personal experiences coupled with education, Lekan is able to engage with and facilitate learning’s for the youth that he serves. He has worked as a facilitator and coordinator for youth projects with Toronto Community Housing, JVS Toronto in the Jane Finch area, and Tropicana Community Services, where he coordinated the Rexdale Involve Youth Project. Lekan is currently the Executive Director of For Youth Initiative in Toronto. His passion for justice and anti-oppression has led to recognition from politicians, the media, and local community leaders. With passion that stems from personal experiences, Lekan is dedicated to fighting the injustices that plague Toronto and larger Canadian society. |
