MicroSkills has a 15-member Board of Directors that sets the policies and strategic direction of the agency. Members of the Board of Directors possess a variety of skills and experiences that prepare them to provide effective leadership.
The Executive Committee of the Board consists of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Treasurer/Secretary. These individuals provide leadership to the Executive Director, who manages the agency's daily operations and ensures that the client service and program priorities are on target. The Board's standing committees are chaired by a Board member who works together with agency staff members to address strategic issues and develop effective recommendations for review and approval by the Board of Directors.
MicroSkills incorporates the practice of Appreciative Inquiry (AI) in its leadership and management of the organization. Appreciative Inquiry is a way of thinking, seeking, and acting for powerful, purposeful change in organizations. AI assumes that effective change happens when we identify and build on successes. It is our belief that to sustain our organization in an ever-changing world, we need to transform our thinking from traditional problem solving to success building.
By incorporating the practice of AI, we hope to locate themes that inspire and motivate our staff to envision success and believe in their capacity to achieve it.
Additionally, our practice of AI helps to guide our work with clients and all who do business with MicroSkills. Our vision is grounded in the premise that we can help individuals to achieve the desired future they seek.
Together, we can envision powerful images of ourselves and organization that inspire our action and creativity, and nurture our spirit of innovation.
